BMW M GmbH is showing off a red-hot version of their electrified XM performance utility, the 2024 XM Label Red.

As you’ve already seen in the headline, the XM Label Red is touted as the most powerful BMW M road vehicle ever made. This is made possible by the M HYBRID system: A high-revving V8 engine paired off with an electric motor, together putting out a matching 738 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque.

This is an increase of 94 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque over the standard BMW XM. Current estimates put the Red at a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 175 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package (and 155 mph without). The 4.4-liter V8 features BMW’s M TwinPower Turbo system, able to produce 577 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque by itself. The electric motor is integrated into the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, together channeling all that might to the rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel drive system.

The M HYBRID system also allows for some electric-only propulsion. Thanks to the 19.2 kWh battery pack, the XM Label Red has an estimated EV range of about 30 miles. So, if you need to sneak in or out of your neighborhood, you’ll be able to do so; and you can even carry the bliss of silent propulsion onto the highway, as the Label Red can achieve 87 mph in this EV mode.

Other performance additions include an electronically controlled M Sport differential lock on the rear axle, plus a standard M suspension system with electronically controlled dampers and active roll stabilization. And if there ever was a color which denoted performance, it’s red, found this time in both name and across various accent pieces. Red around the twin kidney grille, the windows, the wheel spokes and, naturally, the badging.

2024 BMW XM Label Red Interior

Inside sees a similar application of red trim garnishing a black interior. Expect some M-specific content, like the M gear selector and control panel, as well as some more universal XM fittings, like the BMW Curved Display. There’s also a head-up display and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

The 2024 BMW XM Label Red is slated to make an in-person debut at the Auto Shanghai international motor show later this month. We should learn more about MSRP and availability as production draws closer. Speaking of, the Label Red is currently queued for assembly in August 2023 at the BMW Group Plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
