Volkswagen Engineers Special Reunion for Longtime Beetle Owner
December 10, 2018
Volkswagen owners are known for their brand loyalty, but few can surpass Kathleen Brooks. The 73-year-old bought her red Beetle, nicknamed “Annie” in 1966, and has used it as a daily driver ever since, racking up over 350,000 miles along the way. To reward this incredible dedication, Volkswagen officials borrowed Annie for 11 months and treated her to a complete restoration at its Puebla, Mexico factory. Despite Brooks’ careful maintenance over the past 51 years, Annie had some serious floorpan rust, along with other cosmetic and mechanical issues that needed to be addressed. Now returned to showroom-new condition, Annie has been reunited with Kathleen, and both are looking forward to many more years of motoring memories together.
