Tesla, still shooting for July production of their compact Model 3, has reported first quarter earnings. Tesla claims they have $4 billion cash on hand heading into the second quarter. While Automotive News points out Tesla lost $330-million which they say is “a bigger deficit than analysts estimated.”
Apparently, it’s not just Americans that don’t seem to want to drive their cars. Reuters is reporting that Samsung Electronics has been approved to test their driverless vehicle technology in South Korea. Reporting that Samsung sees the auto industry as a new market for their products, even though they don’t plan to actually make cars. Reuters says so far, Samsung does not have a deal with a car company. Let’s hope those driverless cars don’t drive themselves across the border into North Korea.

Kia is celebrating a milestone. Workers have produced the one millionth Sorento at their West Point, Georgia assembly plant. And, believe it or not, it took less than nine years to do that. The one millionth Sorento will be on display at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
