Tesla pushes ahead with autonomous tech, despite Autopilot issues

Tesla is taking another big step toward hands free driving.
The California company has announced all Tesla vehicles produced in their factory will have the hardware needed for full self-driving. The technology to do this includes 8 cameras providing a 360-degree view as far away as 250 meters (~820 feet).
The system also includes 12 ultrasonic sensors the company says can now see hard and soft objects at nearly twice the distance as before. They say the radar facing forward has also been improved, and can see through rain, fog and even the car ahead.
The onboard computer is "40 times more powerful than before". The company says it’s already producing Model S and Model X vehicles with this new technology.
