Stop the Presses: Automobile and Lowrider Magazines Among 19 Titles Going All-Digital
TEN Publishing has announced they will no longer offer print copies of nineteen automotive magazine titles, effective at the end of 2019. The titles affected are Automobile, 4-Wheel & Off-Road, Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, Classic Trucks, Diesel Power, Hot Rod Deluxe, Jp, Lowrider, Mopar Muscle, Muscle Car Review, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, Mustang Monthly, Street Rodder, Super Chevy, Super Street, Truck Trend, Truckin’, and Vette. MotorTrend Group president and General Manager Alex Wellen announced the decision in a memo to staffers on Friday, but said that all titles would continue to produce content for digital platforms and that no layoffs were expected as a result of the change. Long-running biweekly favorite Autoweek suffered a similar fate, publishing its final print issue last month after owner Crain Communications reached a licensing agreement with Hearst to operate Autoweek as a "digital and experiential brand."
