Production Begins on Refreshed Honda Passport, TrailSport Models
Mass production of the refreshed 2022 Honda Passport SUV, as well as the Pilot SUV and available Trailsport models, have begun at the company’s Alabama Auto Plant. The 2022 Passport features a new exterior design which reflects the vehicles off-road capabilities; in tandem, Honda’s first Trailsport models feature a heightened sense of off-road utility, durability and versatility. All models have begun mass production, with the first 2022 Passports to arrive in dealerships this winter. All new Passports feature an updated front fascia and rear bumper. Honda’s suite of safety technology also comes standard, and a variety of packages and add-ons are available. It’s powered by Honda’s 3.5-liter V6 engine, mated up to a 9-speed automatic transmission, creating 280 horsepower. Their i-VTM4 All-Wheel-Drive System is standard on the Trailsport and Elite trims; available on the entry EX-L Passport.
The Trailsport namesake includes exclusive exterior and interior styling, such as a unique grille, 18-inch wheels, and orange-on-black badging. Those wheels are wrapped in all-terrain tires with rugged sidewalls. The interior has leather-trimmed, orange-stitched seats; front seats are heated. The stitching carries over to the leather-wrapped steering wheel. A One-Touch Moonroof and Tri-Zone climate control system are also included. The 2022 Pilot Trailsport features the same orange/black treatment, from badging to stitching. It, too, is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine, paired to the same 9-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive is standard on the Pilot Trailsport. Both the 2022 Pilot and Passport are the first models to wear the new badge.Trailsport models are currently being built exclusively by Honda’s Alabama plant.
