While the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is an impressive show of modern performance, a new tribute package serves as a throwback to another iconic driver’s car– the 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7.

The 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Carrera RS Package is a bit much to say, but it does a good job of setting the stage for its contents. The package provides the GT3 RS with some exterior and interior enhancements which callback to its automotive ancestor, plus some modifications that, by proxy, should bolster the GT3 RS’s already jaw-dropping performance– though, to be clear, this package alone is largely cosmetic.

Starting with the outside, the Tribute Package includes lightweight magnesium wheels painted in Python Green, matched by green mirror caps and side graphics. In back, the big ol’ wing is accented by green “PORSCHE” scripting, underneath which is a GT3 RS graphic on the rear bumper. The wing end plates are garnished by a special RS logo, featuring the American flag.

An American flag from the factory on a German car? It’s not as strange as you may think, as the Tribute Package is an American-exclusive add-on for the GT3 RS. Along with some of the aforementioned appearance changes, the Tribute comes standard with Porshce’s Weissach Package, embedding a fair amount of exposed carbon fiber both inside and out– though the hood and roof can be painted to match the body at no additional cost. It also includes carbon fiber anti-roll bars, coupling rods and a shear panel.

If you’re lucky enough to catch one of these at a standstill, you may take note of the interior changes. This includes deviated green stitching and an embossed center console lid. Even luckier, you can open the doors to see the “Tribute to Carrera RS” illuminated sill guards. Luckier still, you’ll be handed a pair of white-painted keys.

And if you happen to purchase one, you’ll also get a few extra goodies for your spending. The custom car cover, RS valve stem caps with Python Green scripting, matching key caps, and custom license plate frames are actually usable; but, the included pair of 1:43 scale cars– one a replica of the new car, the other a replica of the ‘73 Carrera RS– might just be the coolest treats.

And those model cars may soften the blow of the $314,000 price tag, which includes the $1,450 destination charge. That’s a step up from the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS “standard” going rate of around $225,000 or $265,200 with the Weissach Package; but as we recently found out during our Roebling track test, it’s certainly worthy of the “driver’s car” moniker.
