Ford is giving customers of their mid-size Ranger more options to make it their own. They’re introducing the Ranger FX2 Package. The idea is to give their two-wheel-drive trucks more off-road capability. The FX2 Package includes an electronic-locking rear differential and off-road-tuned suspension to improve traction and performance. A front underbody guard and air dam-delete provide underbody protection and better approach angles. Drivers can see pitch, roll and yaw in real time on the off-road cluster screen. All this rides on 17-inch… or available 18-inch off-road tires.
Admittedly, this will probably appeal to drivers in urban areas. However, Ford is responding to what they’re seeing from their customers. The company says two out of three Ranger buyers choose one of several Appearance Packages offered. They say about a third of Ranger owners add the FX4 Off-Road Package.
The FX2 Package costs $595. You can order it now, but it will be later this year before they’re delivered.
