The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is here, serving as a new flagship model with plenty of enhancements made in regards to styling and performance.
Of course, we’re yet to drive this latest iteration, but on paper the GT Coupe is exactly what we hoped it would be. This new model will be available in two variants, the AMG GT 55 Coupe and the AMG GT 63 Coupe.

Here, expect 0-60 mph sprints to take just 3.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 196 mph with enough track. The same engine is used in the AMG GT 55 Coupe, tuned to produce 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, achieving 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph. Both versions are equipped with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission, used to deliver power to the standard 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. Here, this means transferring torque between the front and rear axles, capable of sending all of it rearward when necessary. Furthering performance in the corners is a standard AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL for roll stabilization, an electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential, and rear-axle steering.
This new generation of AMG GT Coupe offers optional 2+2 seating for those people pleasers who like to offer their friends and family carpooling opportunities, but aren’t too accommodating as to forgo the sports car experience altogether. The vehicle’s profile was described as having “flowing surfaces without beads or edges,” and that very much characterizes its new look. The Coupe’s construction is also defined by it’s aluminum structure, active aerodynamics and open greenhouse.

AMG sport seats are standard, but AMG Performance seats can be optioned; though, we suspect either will gel well with the flat bottomed steering wheels and liberal use of Nappa leather throughout the cabin.
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is expected to arrive in US dealers in the first half of next year, with pricing yet to be announced.
