More To See In Tokyo
October 25, 2017
Honda is adding sportiness to their EV ambitions. They unveiled the Honda Sports EV Concept. It combines EV performance and artificial intelligence like the Urban EV Concept we saw at Frankfurt, but this concept is a compact body for a driving experience more like a car.
Nissan unveiled the IMx concept to the crowd in Tokyo. They plan for the all-electric crossover concept to have a driving range of more than 372 miles. There is a steering wheel for when you want to drive. When operating fully autonomously, the steering wheel slides inside the dash board.
Nissan also unveiled the Nissan Serena e-POWER minivan. The electric drive system borrows from the technology in the Nissan LEAF, but also includes a small gasoline engine that charges the battery. So there’s no need for an external charger.
Another premier we’ve been waiting for is the Subaru VIZIV Performance Concept. The sports sedan would be propelled by a boxer engine and Symmetrical AWD. The technology will come from the next-generation EyeSight driver-assist system.
