The virus pandemic has closed indoor movie theaters across the land. But Americans have rediscovered an alternative, the outdoor drive-in movie theater. The number of drive-ins has dwindled from nearly 5,000 in the 1950’s to around 300 today. Still, the urge to “go to the movies” combined with warm summer weather has refueled this nostalgic icon. So much so that some restaurants and even Walmart are setting up temporary screens in parking lots to help feed the demand for outdoor cinema. But it you have never been to a drive-in, there are protocols. In that vein, Mini is now launching a digital Mini Drive-In Movie Guide. It offers tips to first time, or returning drive-in moviegoers on how to best enjoy the experience. It also includes recipes for snacks, and a locater, along with expert historical facts about drive-ins. The MINI Drive-In Guide is available for download at MINIUSA.com/drivein.
