The competition is growing in the electric vehicle market. Lucid Motors has broken ground on their new factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. Construction is now underway on the first phase of the facility. Lucid looked at more than 60 sites in 13 states before settling on Arizona. They say they chose the site south of Phoenix for a variety of reasons, including business climate, infrastructure, and the automotive supply chain in the region.
This is where the company plans to build their first EV… the Lucid Air. It will be a mid-size luxury sedan. Beyond the futuristic looks, the company says the Lucid Air will breeze from 0-60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds, while being able to go more than 400 miles on a full charge. They anticipate starting production of the Lucid Air in late 2020.
