Lexus RX Redesigned for 2023; Three of Four Powertrains Electrified
2023 Lexus RX 350 Premium
Lexus has unveiled the all-new 2023 RX luxury crossover, boasting a new design, additional trim levels, and three electrified powertrains.
The new RX kicks off the luxury utility’s fifth generation, redesigned inside and out and updated to offer consumers with more options. The 2023 RX will also come available in six grades: Standard, Premium, Luxury and F-SPORT, and two new trims, Premium+ and F SPORT Performance.

It all starts with the RX’s new GA-K platform, accommodating new powertrains and offering a lower center of gravity, all while increasing rigidity and shaving 198 pounds off the new RX. Despite the 2.36-inch wheelbase extension, the RX remains identical in length thanks to a 2.36-inch reduction in rear overhang.
The RX 350, available in both front- and all-wheel drive, will come packed with a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine capable of 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The RX 350h is available in all-wheel drive only, featuring a hybrid system combined with a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine, adding up to 246 horses and 233 lb-ft. The RX 450h+ is powered by a plug-in hybrid system, but details are yet to be disclosed.

That fourth powertrain is also a hybrid, reserved for the RX-first 500h F SPORT Performance trim, which utilizes the 2.4-liter turbo-four banger from before, but combined with an eAxle rear unit. Sent through a six-speed automatic transmission, the all-wheel drive system is capable of 367 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.
The outside of the new RX features an evolved take on the Lexus spindle design, spearheaded by a new seamless grille and integrated headlights. The backend boasts the signature L-shaped light bar with wide-wrapping rear lenses. Lexus has reworked the interior with new surfaces said to “instill confidence and control in the driver.” New additions include the e-Latch system, able to open the doors by touching a button. A 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available, as well as a head-up display.
The 2023 Lexus RX is expected to reach dealerships by the end of 2022. Pricing details are yet to be disclosed.
