IntelliChoice Announces Winners of the 2016 Best Overall Value of the Year Awards
IntelliChoice has announced the winners of its 2016 Best Overall Value of the Year (BOVY) awards. Each year, IntelliChoice compiles and analyzes data on every new vehicle model sold in the United States to identify vehicles with lower ownership costs, but also lower than expected costs over time when compared to similar models. The BOVY awards were created as a way to help consumers understand that the total cost to own a vehicle is influenced by a variety of factors. The 2016 BOVYs represent 22 diverse vehicle segments, enabling shoppers to directly compare similar vehicles over time.
Toyota took home seven class awards between the Lexus and Toyota brands. General Motors and Chrysler received three awards each, with GM winning the Luxury and Premium Performance Car classes, while Chrysler’s Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited dominated the Compact and Mid-Size Utility classes.
The two Overall model categories represent those vehicles that are the standout values regardless of their competing segments. In addition, the Overall Brand Awards recognize those manufacturers that demonstrate a superior value proposition through their lowest cost of ownership or highest retained value within their popular or premium target market.
“This year saw several new winners, as lower fuel prices increased the importance of strong resale values,” states Eric Anderson, Director of Data Products for IntelliChoice. “The Jeep Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited, and Porsche Cayenne were all rated Highest in Retained Value within their class and benefited from lower fuel prices.”
