Police departments could be part of the push to bring electric motors to what we drive. Ford completed testing of the Police Responder Hybrid Sedan and F-150 Police Responder. They were put through their paces during 32-laps of police vehicle testing at Grattan Raceway in Michigan. The Police Responder Hybrid Sedan is based on the Fusion. Ford claims the Hybrid Sedan can go 0-100 mph more than a second faster then the legendary V8-powered Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. They say the combined fuel economy for the Hybrid Sedan is twice as good as the Crown Vic. The EPA’s numbers will be released later.
As MotorWeek looks ahead to the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, one of the vehicles we’ll be watching is the MITSUBISHI e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT. The all-electric concept includes an onboard Artificial Intelligence Personal Assistant. The AI system reads changes in the road and traffic, coaches the driver based on their skills, and can connect the car and home. The 45th Tokyo Motor Show is later this month.
Alexa will soon make life easier for Nissan drivers. The company says Nissan’s connected car features are being added to Alexa’s list of skills. The technology follows voice commands to perform a variety of functions like remotely locking and unlocking the vehicle, and starting or stopping the engine from your home. The technology will be available later this month on certain models ranging from 2016 to 2018.
