Honda is recalling another 1.2 million vehicles due to issues with Takata airbags. The vehicles in question already had their airbags replaced under an initial recall. The replacement airbags are now also suspected of being faulty from moisture contamination and deploying in a crash more violently than designed. The incident that triggered the new investigation and recall concerned an older Honda Odyssey minivan. In this incident the driver's arm was injured when the airbag dischargde. The Takata airbag recall now covers over 50 million airbags in nearly 40 million vehicles. While many of the airbags are now being replaced by units from other sources, there are still not enough devices to satisfy demand. However, Honda says the vehicles that are involved in this latest recall can be schedule for dealer service immediately. Just last month Subaru, Tesla, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Ferrari recalled 1.7 million vehicles to replace potentially deadly Takata air bag inflators. To date some 23 people have died from Takata airbag malfunctions around the world.
