It’s back to work and GMC is moving forward to meet heavy duty demands. They’re introducing the all-new 2020 Sierra Heavy Duty. This workhorse is big. It’s taller, has a longer wheelbase, and a larger grille. Under that beefy hood is a 445-horsepower 6.6 liter Duramax turbo diesel matched with an Allison 10-speed automatic. Torque is 910 lb-ft which will come in handy when towing more than 30,000 pounds. We’re waiting for the specs on a new gas engine. It’s not all about muscle. Tech improves too. The ProGrade Trailering system is enhanced, featuring 15 camera views, and the ability to see through a trailer in tow.
All work and no play is no fun, so there’s also a Sierra Heavy Duty AT4 for off-roading fans. We got a taste of the AT4 recently in Michigan, so we’re anxious to get the Heavy Duty version dirty. The 2020 Sierra HD goes on sale this summer in 2500HD and 3500HD dual rear wheel and single rear wheel configurations. We’ll know more about the price the closer they get to the dealers.
