Google self-driving car hits bus on California street
It has been reported that a self-driving car hit a public bus in California. The incident was a fender-bender and no one was hurt. This was the first time one of the test vehicles has caused an accident while testing on city roads.
According to the Associated Press, the collision occurred on Valentine's Day when one of the Lexus SUVs it has outfitted with sensors and cameras hit the side of the bus.
In an incident report submitted to the DMV, Google stated that the car was trying to get around sandbags that were near the curb at an intersection close to Google’s Mountain View headquarters in California. The left front hit the right side of the bus while sliding to the left to pass the sandbags and make a right turn. According to Goggle the driver did not have control of the wheel when the collision happened.
