We previously reported on GMC’s collaboration with overlanding-brand EarthCruiser, teaming up to devise a special upfit package for the HUMMER EV pickup. Now we have the official details, the main attraction being the EarthCruiser house.

Mounted where the pickup’s bed would be, the house is more than just a bolt-on cab, as it’s carbon fiber construction is fully integrated in the vehicle’s chassis. It features a tri-layered pop-up roof, a full-size bed that can sleep two and onboard solar power. The additional 6kWh of charge provided by the 12V lithium battery is claimed to provide “an estimated 7 days of off-grid power” for appliances, like a refrigerator.

The upfit package will also include a 13.5-gallon freshwater tank and a 7-gallon gray tank, an onboard 12V water heater, and a “curated selection of appliances. The aforementioned refrigerator and freezer are joined by an indoor and outdoor shower, a flat-pack toilet and additional outlets. A 7-inch touchscreen serves as the house’s primary control interface.

Needless to say, the EarthCruiser upfit is essentially “glamping” taking the form of an overlanding rig. And being carried by a very capable off-roader, we can only hope that buyers will put it all to the test. The cost of the EarthCruiser upfit is yet to be confirmed, but with GMC HUMMER EV pickups starting above $85,000 we suspect it will easily tick over the six figure mark.
