Press days are underway at the Geneva International Motor Show.  Audi kicked things off showing the Q4 e-tron concept.  The compact electric SUV with all-wheel drive has a range of more than 280 miles.  The production version is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2020.  It will be Audi’s fifth electric model. 

Audi also presented the plug-in hybrid variants of the A8, A7 Sportback, A6 and Q5.  They offer an electric range of more than 64-miles.

Bentley is unveiling the new Bentayga Speed.  The mighty 6.0-litre W12 engine cranks out 634 horsepower and 664 lb.ft of torque.  Horsepower is up about 25 from the Bentayga without the word speed in its name.  Those numbers translate to a top speed of 190 mph and 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds. 

BMW is showing an even greater commitment to electrified vehicles.  They presented the world premiere for the new BMW X3 xDrive30e, the new BMW 330e, the new BMW X5 xDrive45e and plug-in hybrid members of the new BMW 7 Series range.

The new BMW 7 Series luxury sedan is making its show debut, after being unveiled a few weeks ago.  For the 6th generation, their flagship luxury sedan has design tweaks including a taller front end and enlarged kidney grill with active cooling vanes.

Automobili Lamborghini brought two new open-air models to Geneva.   The naturally aspirated V12 engine Aventador SVJ Roadster generates 770 hp. Production is limited to just 800.   

Huracán EVO Spyder gets a 5.2 liter naturally aspirated Lamborghini V10 derived from Huracán Performante producing 640 hp.

Mercedes is clearly charged up with the future of electricity.  They showed this Concept EQV.  The 201 hp motor with 100 kWh capacity offers a range of 249 miles.  They say we can expect to see a series-production vehicle at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

An even racier version of EV momentum is the Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01.  It’s the first all-electric racing car for the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team.

Internal combustion engines are still going strong.  The Mercedes-AMG S 65 Final Edition is a prime example with its 621 hp 6.0-liter V12 Biturbo engine.  Only 130 will be available worldwide. 

French luxury brand Bugatti pushed the limits with the “La Voiture Noire“.  This one-off hyper sports car serves up an insane amount of power: 1478 horsepower.  That’s produced by an 8-liter 16-cylinder engine.  The six tailpipes are a sign of all that power.  A Bugatti enthusiast bought it for $12.4 million.

Porsche brought a dynamic trio to Geneva.  The rear-engine 911 Cabriolet was the highlight.  

The 295 hp mid-engine Porsche 718 T was shown in Boxster and Cayman models.  

The crowd also saw the new V6 turbocharged Macan S.

Volkswagen is growing their ID concept line-up with the ID. BUGGY.  62 kWh battery should provide enough electricity for 155 miles of open air driving.  No roof and no doors, but there is a weatherproof interior with two integrated seats and fully digital cockpit.

Kia Motors revealed an all-electric concept car called ‘Imagine by Kia’.  This is their first pure electric four-door passenger car following the e-Niro electric crossover.

Rolls-Royce brought their full product portfolio with an emphasis on personalization.  They showed bespoke versions of the Phantom, Cullinan, Black Badge and Dawn.

Ferrari unleashed the F8 Tributo on the crowd in Geneva.  A 710-hp turbo-charged V8 powers this mid-rear-engined two-seater.

Adventure seekers in Geneva got a charge from Jeep.  Plug-in hybrid versions of the Renegade and Compass will be offered.

 

Aston Martin showed the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept.  This luxurious electric SUV will include autonomous driving technology when production begins in 3 years.

Aston Martin’s Project 003 has been revealed as AM-RB 003.  Their third mid-engine  hypercar will feature a hybrid turbo V6.  Production will be limited to 500 coupes worldwide.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Vision Concept shows what the luxury brand’s first series production mid-engine supercar will look like.

Alfa Romeo is racing into the electric vehicle world with the Tonale Concept.  This marks the first plug-in hybrid and the first premium compact SUV for Alfa Romeo.

Nissan unveiled the all-new IMQ concept.  The stylish electric crossover will generate 335 hp, using multiple motors to send power to all four wheels.

Mitsubishi also has an eye on electrified all-wheel drive.  The MITSUBISHI ENGELBERG TOURER made its global debut as their next-generation utility.

Among all the concepts, was the Honda e Prototype.  It evolved from Urban EV Concept that debuted in Frankfurt two years ago.  The electric motor will drive the rear wheels for 124 miles.
