Genesis has now released details about its upcoming new compact GV70 crossover utility. This all-new compact luxury ute is based on the exceptional rear-wheel drive architecture of the much heralded G70 luxury sport sedan. However that does not mean it will share powertrains. The new GV70 will feature three engine choices starting with a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, with an optional 375-horsepower 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. So, in fact the GV70 shares its powertrains with the larger GV80 utility. The third engine, a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel four-cydlinder will not be available here. The transmission will be an 8-speed automatic in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive formats. The GV70 represents the most attractive combination yet of the brand’s signature crest grille and recently introduced twin-line Quad-Lamp exterior design theme. The inside, however, shows a fresh departure that is futuristic, fun, and retro rolled into one with it being more driver centric in shape than the larger Genesis GV80. However, the GV70 does appear to retain the same 14.5-inch and 12.3-inch digital displays as the GV80. Expect the 2022 Genesis GV70 to arrive at American dealers next spring.
