Genesis unveiled their GV80 Coupe Concept at Genesis House in New York, days before the start of the New York International Auto Show.

Inspired by last year’s X Speedium Coupe Concept unveiled last year, the GV80 Coupe Concept is an attempt at truly bringing out the “Sport” in SUV whilst retaining the “Utility.” This four-passenger utility certainly plays well into the brand’s current design language with an extra flair of sportiness, though the first thing you’ll likely notice is just how orange it is.

But going beyond the “Magma” lacquer, the GV80 Coupe Concept packs a lot of “go fast” features that you just love to see. The exterior bodywork is aerodynamic and sweptback, as the rear-wheel drive platform gives way to the long hood proportions. The five-spoke aluminum wheels and carbon fiber roof both reduce weight and lower the vehicle’s center of gravity.

The interior is popping off with the same color scheme; black Nappa and suede leather with orange double stitching, creating a plaid effect on all four bucket seats. Orange seat belts match the design, as do the carbon fiber weaves used across functional surfaces. Additional carbon fiber can be found on the seat backrests, paint matched to the body. Perhaps the coolest bit is the G-Matrix strut brace located behind the buckets– truthfully there for structural rigidity, but undeniably leaning the GV80 Coupe Concept further into the performance-specced vibe.

We don’t expect to see this exact concept enter the production realm; however, Genesis press materials call the Coupe Concept “a statement of intent for the future, hinting towards more emotional and performance-oriented models.” And we can’t wait to see what Genesis ultimately puts on the road.
