Genesis has announced that gas-powered versions of their GV70 SUV will be assembled in the United States.

Starting with the 2024 model year, all US-market GV70s will be manufactured in Alabama. It joins the Electrified GV70, which has already been assembled in Hyundai’s Montgomery, Alabama plant since February 2023.

Genesis says they have invested over $300 million to “enhance the production facility to accommodate future growth,” including the GV70, by adding warehouse space and improving the stamping and weld facilities.

“We are pleased to bring further assembly of Genesis vehicles to the United States, bolstering availability of our products and investing in our communities,” said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America.

MotorWeek gave the 2022 GV70 the full Road Test treatment, calling it “a hit no matter how you look at it.” We praised its combination of luxury and sportiness; and with a starting price in the low $40,000’s, its value wasn’t too shabby either.
