The Genesis brand officially enters the battery electric utility marketplace with the GV60 5-passenger luxury crossover EV. Sharing a great deal mechanically with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, the GV60 takes the group's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) upscale while retaining the tall hatchback proportsions of the other two models. Details and technical specifications like EV range have not been released yet, but expect the distance between charging to be around 300 miles under optimum conditions. Outside there is a performance appearance to the GV60 highlighted by its long hood. Genesis refers to their current design theme as ‘Athletic Elegance.' The GV60 that is being shown also uses first time digital side mirrors using cameras and interior screens rather than traditional glass side mirrors. The comfortable-looking interior itself is wide and airy taking full advantage of the flat floor chassis common to EVs. Called 'Beauty of White Space, the front cockpit's most notable aspect here is the Crystal Sphere, a sphere-shaped Shift By Wire drive mode selector located on a flaoting front console that intuitively informs drivers when the vehicle is ready to drive. More details on the Genesis GV60 will be released in the next few months and it should arrive in select dealers after the first of the year.
