There’s a change at the top at Ford Motor Company, as the company has named Jim Hackett president and CEO.  He succeeds Mark Fields, who had reportedly been facing pressure over the company’s stock price.  Hackett is no stranger to Ford, having led Ford Smart Mobility LLC Since March 2016, as well as serving on Ford’s board from 2013 to 2016. 

Federal regulators are taking a closer look at Hyundai and Kia.  Reuters is reporting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will look into the timing of recalls of their vehicles with "Theta II" engines.  The recalls were prompted by concerns the engines could stall.  A Hyundai spokesman told Reuters the company "has conducted recalls in compliance with U.S. regulations and procedure" and will "sincerely" cooperate with the investigation.  

 

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced filing an application for diesel vehicle emissions certification with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board for 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500 diesels.  The company says they have “updated emissions software calibrations” to alleviate ongoing diesel concerns here in the U.S, and don’t anticipate any impact on performance or fuel efficiency.  If approved, owners of 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Ram 1500 diesels will be able to get the software upgrades as well.
