Ford is issuing a recall on almost 200 Ford GTs made between December 20, 2016 and July 31, 2018. The recall is due to a problem with the hydraulic assembly under the GT’s rear wing. Hydraulic fluid may leak on the exhaust and cause a fire, Ford said in a press release on October 10th. No injuries were reported but Ford also noted that one affected GT has already caught fire in Germany.
To fix the problem, Ford plans to release a software update that will prevent pressure build-up of hydraulic fluid. If necessary, Ford dealers will also install a new valve and o-rings.
