Ford Joins Forces with Baidu for Autonomous Testing
November 2, 2018
There’s a new partnership to make driving more about mobility. Ford and Chinese tech company Baidu are working together to test autonomous vehicles on the road in China. The two have partnered in the past on self-driving technology. This new project will involve Ford vehicles converted to accommodate Baidu’s Apollo Virtual Driver System. The vehicles will be designed to meet the Level 4 driving automation standard as defined by SAE International. The vehicles will be on open roads in Beijing specially designated for AV testing. The project is scheduled to begin by the end of this year, and is expected to last two years.
