Ford giving the green light to new driver assistance technology
October 21, 2016
If sitting at a red light makes your blood boil new technology could help keep you in the flow.
Ford is testing what they call Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory. They say units along the road provide the information on the timing of traffic lights, and then tell the driver the best speed to travel to get a green light.
Ford says the technology could save drivers time, improve traffic flow, and reduce emissions and fuel consumption. The auto company says drivers in the United Kingdom spend two days per year waiting at red lights.
Ford is also testing a system that would warn drivers when a vehicle farther down the road suddenly stops.
The trials are taking place in the UK during the next two years.
