Ford Brings the Storm with F-150 Lightning Platinum Black Edition

Ford has unveiled a new special edition variant of their all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup, the Platinum Black.

As the name suggests, it builds off the top-trim Platinum grade and… well, features a whole lot of black. The press release starts with the most fitting quote imaginable: “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it’s black,” said by Henry Ford himself regarding the original Model T.

The modern day F-150 Lightning, of course, can be had in a variety of colors; however, the Black edition is fittingly monochromatic, headlined by a stealthy matte wrap. Yes, it’s not a matte paint job, but instead a full on wrap– Ford’s first-ever matte-wrapped production truck. Other elements, finished in either matte or Agate Black, include the 22-inch wheels, black ‘Ford’ oval badging, deployable running boards, soft-shell tonneau bed cover, and a reflective black-on-black lightning badge. There’s also a smoked light bar, toning down the truck’s LED elements just enough to fit the vibe.

Underneath the glass roof, which is adorned by ‘Lightning’ graphics above the passenger seating, is a cabin wrapped by black leather seating, featuring all the tech and amenities of a properly equipped F-150 Lightning Platinum. The driver door jamb and frunk are garnished by an aluminum plate highlighting the model’s unique limited edition numbering.

Yep, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Black is capped off at just 2,000 units. Starting at $97,995 before delivery (which is currently $1,995 for 2023) and other applicable fees, the Platinum Black will arrive at dealerships early 2024.
