Hailing an Uber could have you by-passing traffic altogether. Reuters is reporting Uber Technologies Inc. plans to offer flying taxi services in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and Dubai in about three years. They say the company is teaming up with other companies to make the flying taxis as well as where they’ll take-off and land. Passenger flights are expected to be conducted at World Expo 2020 in Dubai.
Back on the ground, commercial fleets could benefit most from autonomous driving. A new report from Navigant Research says automated systems can reduce accidents, fleet fuel consumption and operating costs. The report expects fully automated vehicles in commercial fleets within the next decade.
