A third Chinese car company says they don’t plan to do a deal with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.  A spokesperson for Guangzhou Automobile Group told Reuters, "currently, we don't have plans to acquire Fiat Chrysler".  Geely Automobile Holdings and Dongfeng Motor Group had similar responses to the question.  Earlier this week MotorWeek told you about an Automotive News report of at least one offer for FCA by representatives of a Chinese automaker. 

McLaren Automotive is adding to the glitz and glamour of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  The company will present a one-of-kind McLaren 720S to a car collector customer at the famed auto event.  A fuchsia paint finish is combined with a white leather interior.  Look for it on the concept lawn on Sunday August 20th.

We’ve already seen how well the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 does in the dirt, now it’s going to the next level. Chad Hall of Hall Racing will debut a modified version in the “Vegas to Reno” race.  The 550-mile route is known as “the longest off-road race in the United States”.  The ZR2 is expected to be among 350 contestants.  The race begins in Las Vegas this morning and ends tomorrow morning in Reno, Nevada.

A lot of people are anticipating the upcoming total solar eclipse, including Volvo.  The company has an eclipse viewer for the panoramic moon roof in the 2018 Volvo XC60.  It includes a magnetized frame so the viewer can be attached to the roof.  The eclipse takes place August 21, 2017.
