Volkswagen is pushing the limits of electric driving. The Volkswagen I.D. R will be put to the test on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. VW’s fully-electric sports car had a record-breaking run at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb last summer. The high speed and low track times come from two electric motors that generate 670 hp.
Engineers will modify the aerodynamics of the I.D. R so it’s up to the challenge of the 13-mile long iconic German circuit. Romain Dumas will in the driver’s seat, just as he was during the Pikes Peak performance. The Volkswagen I.D. R will go for the next record this summer.
