MotorWeek can’t wait for the Geneva International Motor Show and apparently neither can Jaguar.  They plan the global premiere of their first all-electric Jaguar I-PACE this Thursday.  We showed you the concept SUV when it was unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.  Jaguar says the all-wheel-drive I-PACE will be capable of rapid charging from zero to 80 percent in 45 minutes.  The official public debut of the I-PACE will be at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 6, 2018.

Toyota is tempting us to Geneva with this teaser shot.  They’re planning the world premiere of third generation Auris. It’s a compact hatchback derived from the Toyota Corolla.  Along with exterior design changes, Toyota is introducing a new 2.0-liter full hybrid powertrain.  We’ll learn more at the Toyota press conference on March 6, 2018.  We’re wondering if we’ll see it on American roads.

Volkswagen has the green light to produce the brand’s first SUV cabriolet. It will be based on the compact T-Roc, which launched in Europe at the end of last year.  Volkswagen has been producing convertibles on various models for almost 70 years.  The announcement immediately had MotorWeek’s chief historian remembering the Thing Volkswagen produced from the late 1960’s through the early 1980’s.  The T-Roc based cabrio will begin rolling off the assembly line in Osnabrück, Germany during the first part of 2020.
