With the LA Auto Show in the rear view mirror, we’re already looking ahead to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. That’s where we’ll see the world debut of the 2019 BMW i8 Coupe. BMW engineers added 12 more horsepower to the eDrive technology bringing it up to 369 hp. The hybrid all-wheel drive system uses a combustion engine to drive the rear wheels, and an electric motor for the front wheels. We showed you the world premiere of the BMW i8 Roadster at the Los Angeles Auto Show earlier this month.
We’ll also see the all-new BMW X2 in Detroit. We first saw it as a concept in the Motor City last year. The newest addition to the BMW X line-up gets a 228 horsepower 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine that will work with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Look for it in dealerships in the spring. No word yet on the price.
