On Wednesday, April 10th at 1:00 pm Eastern, the U.S. Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratory will hold an informational webinar on the Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Prize. David Howell, Acting Director of the Vehicle Technologies Office will provide an overview of the goals and vision for the prize, followed by an overview of the rules, timing, and tracks for submission. The Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Prize is a $5.5-million phased prize competition designed to incentivize American entrepreneurs to develop and demonstrate processes that, when scaled, have the potential to profitably capture 90% of all discarded or spent lithium-based batteries in the United States for eventual recovery of key materials for re-introduction into the U.S. supply chain.
