California to Ban Gasoline Fueled New Vehicle Sales by 2035
September 24, 2020
In the wake of devastating wild fires, California’s governor Gavin Newsom is calling for a ban on gasoline powered new cars and trucks by 2035. A first ban of its type by any state, California is the largest single new car market in the U.S. Newsom will order the California Air Resources Board to draw up plans for the ban, and to work with industry partners to make zero-emission electric vehicles more practical by accelerating the number of available charging stations. The new ban does not mean Californians cannot own their current gasoline powered vehicles, and they will be able to continue to buy and sell them on the used-car market.
