Monterey Car Week is about to begin and Lotus plans to make a big splash.  The Lotus Evija will make its North American debut at this premiere automotive event.  The British brand’s first all-electric hypercar made its global debut in London in July. 

So how powerful will it be?  Lotus says 1972-horsepower.  Pure electric driving range target of 250-miles.  The Evija is the most powerful and dynamically road car in the company’s history.  It marks several firsts for Lotus.  It’s their first electrified powertrain. Its also the first new model since Geely took control in 2017.  Don’t worry traditionalists. This rare electric hypercar designed and engineered in the UK, will be produced at Hethel, UK, the home of Lotus since 1966.  They only plan to build 130 cars.  Lotus says a customer from Miami, Florida became is the first North American to buy an Evija.  The price starts at a little more than $2-million.

The Lotus Evija is scheduled to appear at ‘The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering’ on Friday August 16, 2019.  Two days later, on Sunday August 18, it will be at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.  If you can’t make it, the Evija will be at Galpin Lotus in Los Angeles, beginning August 21, 2019.
