It is now official, Cadillac’s ultra-high performance Blackwing sub-brand is alive and ready to kick back at more competition. Cadillac has announced that the upcoming CT4 and CT5 V-Series cars will eventually include Blackwing variants. The 2021 V-Series Blackwing models will feature specially tuned chassis, vehicle control technologies and unique engines. But, and here is the biggest surprise, each model will also be offered with a manual transmission. A 10-speed automatic is also rumored. The fourth generation design CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing carss are undergoing testing that includes sessions at tracks and road courses around the country. The only disappointing news is that neither new Blackwing model will have the high-performance 4.2-liter, twin-turbo 550-hp V-8 Blackwing engine that powered the defunct CT6-V. No confirmation yet on what type of engine will power these near future Blackwing sedans, but they are likely to be related to already announced 2020 V-Series motors. One rumor insists that the top dog CT5 V-Series Blackwing will output 650-horsepower or more.
