A strategic business move is being made to accelerate the advancement of autonomous driving.  Intel is buying Israeli firm Mobileye for $15.3 billion.  The deal will bring together Intel’s technology expertise with Mobileye’s autonomous driving developments.  Intel estimates the vehicle systems, data and services market could be worth up to $70 billion by 2030. The company hopes the deal will close within the next nine months, pending business and regulatory approval.

 If you got a recall notice last year, you’re not alone.  Reuters is quoting statistics from the U.S. Transportation Department that say 53.2 million vehicles were recalled in the United States in 2016.  That’s a record, and tops the previous record set the year before.  Reuters reports the expansion of the Takata air bag inflators recall pushed the numbers higher.  Here’s a link to see if your vehicle is on the recall list: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls#vehicle

 Nissan is showing a big audience they can get the work done.  The company is gearing up to display their truck line up at The Work Truck Show later this week.  Nissan plans to bring various versions of the Titan pickup trucks.  They also will show their full lineup of NV Cargo vans, including the recently debuted project NV Cargo X.  The Work Truck Show runs March 15-17 at the Indiana Convention Center.
