Audi all-electrics to be called “e-tron”
October 18, 2016
New driving technology from Audi will come with a clear and concise name.
Autocar is reporting the company will use the name e-tron for its electric vehicles. Audi revealed plans for electric vehicles during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The website quotes Board Chairman Rupert Stadler as saying, “In the long term the name e-tron will stand for a pure electric driveline structure.” Audi already offers plug-in hybrids with the e-tron name: the A3 Sportback e-tron, and the Q7 e-tron quattro.
Autocar is reporting Audi plans to introduce three pure electric vehicles through the end of 2020. They include an SUV, hatchback and sedan.
