MotorWeek's Ben Davis was first on the scene, heading out to Carmel Valley, California to drive the all-new 2017 Nissan Armada.

Their biggest SUV, the Armada's body-on-frame construction is now based on the worldwide Nissan Patrol platform.

Changes to the suspension lead to more rigidity throughout the body, as well as increased comfort. The use of acoustic glass cuts road noise.

NIssan's 5.6 liter Endurance V8 engine is used for the Armada, here putting out 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft. of torque. Combined with a seven speed automatic transmission, tow capacity rates 8,500 lbs.

Off-road prowess still remains, with the optional 4WD system.

Available safety features include Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, and Nissan's AroundView Monitor system.
