Honda is adding a new trim level to its popular CR-V crossover, the Sport-L. Available exclusively with a hybrid powertrain, the Sport-L slots between the EX-L and the range-topping Sport Touring.

Standard features on the Sport-L include leather seats, front and rear parking sensors, a power tailgate, and a 9-inch touchscreen. That touchscreen features smartphone integration, joined by wireless device charging and an 8-speaker audio system.

The exterior of the Sport-L is denoted by gloss black accents, rectangular exhaust finishers and 18-inch wheels fitted as standard. Those wheels are spun by the standard two-wheel drive hybrid powertrain, though the hybrid CR-V’s all-wheel drive system is available.

In either case, power comes from a 2.0-liter inline-4 paired with a hybrid system making a combined 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, all of which is sent to the wheels through a CVT automatic. This is the only powertrain offered on Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring trims. Other trim levels come with a 1.5 liter turbocharged inline-4.

Pricing for the Sport-L starts at $37,645 for a 2WD version or $39,145 for the AWD variant. These prices put it close to the top-trim Sport Touring’s $40,795 starting price, available only in AWD. The entry-level hybrid is the Sport, starting at $34,645 and $36,145 for 2WD and AWD respectively. At the bottom rung is the non-hybrid 2WD LX trim, starting at $30,795.

2024 Honda CR-Vs will start hitting dealerships this June.
