Mazda has released pricing and packaging details for the 2023 Mazda3 compact, starting at $23,615 and maxing out at $36,365 with destination included.

At its most affordable price of admission, the Mazda3 is configured as a front-wheel drive 2.5 S sedan; the upgrade to a similarly trimmed hatchback will cost an additional $1,000. Standard on this pair is a suite of i-Active safety sense features, Mazda Connected Services and an 8.8-inch infotainment display, among other features.

Dropping the previous year's 2.0-liter option, all Mazda3’s are powered by a Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine; however, there is a choice between naturally aspirated and turbocharged models, as well as standard front- and available all-wheel drive. Most models utilize a standard six-speed automatic transmission, though there is a manual transmission available on the 2.5 S Premium Package-- hatchback and front-wheel drive only. This setup will run customers $30,215.

For those interested in hopping in a Turbo model, your choices are the aptly named 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, both of which are all-wheel drive only. The Turbo, configured exclusively as a hatchback, will retail for a starting MSRP of $33,515; the Turbo Premium Plus can be opted in either sedan or hatch flavor, retailing for $35,065 and $36,365 respectively.

The most budget-friendly option for an AWD configuration would be the 2.5 S Carbon Edition, available in sedan form for $29,665 or as a hatchback for $30,665. They can also be had in FWD for slightly less-- $1,400 fewer per model. The Carbon Edition was previously offered in 2022, but due to the popularity of the trim Mazda has opted to offer both drivetrains. These are only produced in the Polymetal Gray exterior paint with a red leather interior, borrowing some tech and convenience features found in the Preferred package.

Last time we hopped in a Mazda3, we picked a 2.5 Turbo for our Quick Spin and found it to be an equally exhilarating and chilled driving experience. The turbo, tuned via benchmarked Porsche and BMW engines, made for smooth and engaging drive sessions that never got too out of hand. The Turbo’s 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque (on premium 93 gasoline) was greatly appreciated.

So, interested customers can hop into a 2023 Mazda3 hatchback later this fall, followed by sedan deliveries starting this winter.
