BMW continues to celebrate five decades of M performance with a special edition vehicle, the M3 Edition 50 Jahre BMW M.

This special model is based on the 2023 BMW M3 Competition xDrive, offering special paint options and complete with various throwback trimmings. It follows through with previously reported plans BMW had to celebrate this 50-year milestone with special colors and badgining.

The M3 Edition 50 Jahre BMW M is to be offered in one of five iconic paint colors: Cinnabar Red, Techno Violet, Deep Interlagos Blue, Fire Orange III, and Limerock Gray. Each of these represents a color from each of the five previous generations of M. No matter the choice, the car will ride atop forged Style 826M wheels finished in Orbit Grey, shielding either red, blue or black M Compound brake calipers; gold M Carbon Ceramic brakes are also available as the only extra-cost exterior option.

The Jahre is no stranger to carbon fiber, as the front splitter, rear spoiler and roof are all composed of it. The quad-tipped M tailpipes are also trimmed in carbon fiber and titanium. All this is to provide a touch of modernism, contrasted by the classic BMW Motorsport logos adorned on the hood, trunk and wheel caps.

The interior is similar to that of a well-equipped M3 with standard M Sport seats; M Carbon bucket seats are the only extra-cost interior option. Either seat uses a unique seam pattern, utilizing the M colors throughout the stitching complimented by tri-color M stripes on the headrests. On the cupholder cover below the dashboard is an aluminum plaque, which indicates the vehicle’s production number-- out of 500.

The 2023 BMW M3 Edition 50 Jahre BMW M will be limited to 500 units in North America, starting at $96,695 after destination fees. Production will begin in July 2022.
