The afternoon at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit gave driving enthusiasts even more to look forward to.

Toyota unveiled the 2018 Camry to the world.  Right off the bat, the styling is nothing like we’ve seen before from this popular family sedan. This version is much sleeker than previous models of this top seller. This Camry is the result of Toyota’s New Global Architecture. There are three new powertrains: a 3.5-liter V6, a 2.5-liter inline-4, and the Toyota Hybrid System.


The Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept made its world debut in Detroit.  This is the company’s vision of what their sedans could look like in the future.  Along with the futuristic design, the concept also provides hints of Nissan’s view of autonomous driving.

 

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport also took the stage at NAIAS 2017.  Nissan hopes the sportier and 12.1-inch shorter version of the Rogue will appeal to young and urban drivers.  It goes on sale in the spring.


Infiniti captured a lot of attention in Detroit with the global debut of the new QX50 concept.  Their next-generation mid-size premium crossover is another step beyond the QX Sport Inspiration unveiled at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show.  The cabin is designed to flow with the exterior styling.  The concept also marks another step by Infiniti toward advancing autonomous driving technologies.


Honda brought the 2018 Odyssey to show the world.   Designers gave the popular minivan a sleeker and more sophisticated look outside. There’s a new 10-speed transmission.  New technology includes 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, a rear entertainment system, and the company’s safety and driver assistance.

 

Volvo announced their latest efforts to harness the opportunity of autonomous driving.  The Swedish company has launched a project to test how the technology works with everyday families in real-life driving situations. About 100 autonomous cars will be on the road around Gothenburg, Sweden this year as part of the Drive Me project. 


Kia is hoping the 2018 Kia Stinger will change the way you think about their cars.  They unveiled a rear-drive sports sedan based on the 2011 GT concept.  The Stinger made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show.  They say this is their highest-performance production vehicle in the company’s history. Kia says two turbocharged engines will be available: a 255 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 365 horsepower 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6.  The Stinger has an 8-speed transmission and electronically adjustable suspension.


Chinese automaker GAC made their third trip to Detroit.  They unveiled three vehicles to a global audience.  Much of the attention went to the GAC GS7.  It’s a five-passenger midsize SUV.

 

They also introduced their first electric vehicle the GE3.  The company says it has a range of 192 miles.  

GAC also presented the Enspirit concept.  They say the hybrid crossover is inspired by blending the experience between humans and nature.
