NACTOY Announces Nine Finalists for 2025 “Best of the Year” Awards
November 21, 2024Nine finalists for the 2025 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards have been announced today during a NACTOY briefing at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Car of the Year Finalists consist of the Honda Civic Hybrid, the Kia K4 and the Toyota Camry; Truck of the Year will be decided between the Ford Ranger, the Ram 1500 and the Toyota Tacoma; Utility of the Year is being considered for the Chevrolet Equinox EV, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
These nine finalists were boiled down from a previous list of 25 semi-finalists, voted on by a board of 50 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada, including MotorWeek’s own John Davis. Criteria for selecting these vehicles, and this year’s three winners, includes “outstanding innovation, design, performance, driver satisfaction and value;” however, each juror will also adhere to their own guidelines for assessing all entries.
“The competition for these awards will be fierce this year,” said Jeff Gilbert, NACTOY President and automotive reporter for WWJ Radio in Detroit. “We have a well-balanced crop of EVs, hybrids and gasoline-powered vehicles. It will be hard to narrow each category down to just one winner – they’re all great choices.”
Jurors have a few weeks to consider their top picks and cast their ballots for the 2025 NACTOY awards, the winners of which will be announced on January 10, 2025, part of the Detroit Auto Show’s media days.
