Hyundai’s “N” performance division is best known for souping up the brand’s good, but otherwise standard offerings. Take the Elantra compact sedan, for example; once N-ified, it aptly becomes the Elantra N, a grin-inducing four-door geared for enthusiasts. Well, now they’re kicking things up one swan neck spoiler-sized notch with the Elantra N TCR Edition.

The name is derived from the Touring Car Racing World Tour, a class Hyundai has been competing in since 2017; and, like the name, the Elantra N TCR’s enhancements are also derived from their experiences there.

The biggest, most obvious signifier that something special is going on is the carbon swan neck spoiler, adjustable for optimal downforce. Down low, 19-inch forged wheels partially disguise N Performance four-piston brakes. Special TCR badging further defines this unique offering, matched inside by an Alcantara steering wheel and blue seat belts.Hyundai Elantra N TCR Celebrates Touring Car Victories 2

The Hyundai Elantra N TCR Edition will launch in its native land of South Korea first, sold under the name “Avante N TCR Edition,” and will be the only market to receive the TCR livery. This special edition will make its way to the global market sometime next year, available for an undisclosed price.

The Hyundai Elantra N is a wonderfully engaging compact sport sedan experience, one that we can’t get enough of. From the snaps and pops spat by its turbocharged engine, to the six-speed manual or eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions that are each fun to shift in their own way, Hyundai’s front-wheel drive hot rod is a reasonable enthusiast bargain, starting at $34,850 for ‘24 models.
