April 17, 1964: Ford publicly unveiled the original Ford Mustang at the New York World’s Fair, the beginning of a legacy that has survived for 60 years. Fast forward to April 17, 2024, just a few weeks away, and Ford will unveil a limited edition 60th Anniversary Appearance Package for the 2024 Mustang, celebrating those six decades of pony car history.

Not much is known about the package aside from two teaser images showing off the special badges. One appears to be a new emblem for the rear decklid, a red and black backing with the “GT” moniker housed in the middle, underscored by text that reads “60 YEARS.” The second image shows the new “5.0” fender badge, following the rear decklid design minus the lower text. The only other visible feature (and that’s a stretch, considering it’s largely cropped out and what’s present is heavily silhouetted) is the wheel, appearing to be of a classic five spoke design with a bright finish.

While the first Mustang made its big debut in New York, the showcase for this special package will take place at North Carolina’s Charlotte Motor Speedway, a venue used by Ford for various ownership experiences, like the Dark Horse and Mach 1 Track Attacks; instructional classes as part of the Ford Performance Racing School, which uses Mustangs for their demos; and historical gatherings, like 2014’s Mustang 50-year anniversary celebration.

Attendees will get a firsthand look at the package and a get a chance to try new Mustang ownership experiences Ford has planned for the next year. Fans can meet Ford race car drivers, get up close and personal with crazy Mustang builds, and even go out for a ride-along on Charlotte’s “Roval” course.

And what is fanatic Mustang ownership without a little bit of a personal touch? Customers and fans will get to explore aftermarket options from various suppliers, including well-known names like RTR, at the Pony Personalization Corner.

Registration for the event is open now, and those interested in attending are encouraged to sign up sooner rather than later. For those unable to attend, the unveiling of the limited edition appearance pack will be livestreamed for the world to see.
