Ford Mustang Offering Factory Matte Finishes
February 27, 2024Wraps have made it easier than ever for people to mix up their vehicle’s appearance, and now they’re making it easier for Ford Mustang buyers to personalize their pony car straight from the factory.
Starting today, buyers filling out build sheets will be able to select a new matte clear film option, giving their desired paint color a satin-like finish. This is available with all factory paint colors on the EcoBoost, GT and Dark Horse models, barring a few exceptions.
“Mustang has been about driving freedom and freedom of expression for 60 years, and our new Matte Clear Film provides a whole new way for customers to make Mustang their own,” said Laurie Transou, Mustang Chief Program Engineer.
Ticking off the box for this personalization will run a cool $5,995 on top of whatever other options you opt for. Factory applied, the wrap is covered by the same three year, 36,000 mile Ford factory warranty provided with all 2024 Mustangs. The film is said to have been designed to withstand car wash detergents, road salt, asphalt residue, bug splatter and, a car enthusiast’s mortal enemy, bird droppings.
Bad news for those of you who are enthralled by this wrap and want it covering your new GT California Special: the GT/CS can not have the matte clear film applied, nor any EcoBoost or GT model sporting the optional graphics package. The Dark Horse can have the wrap applied, but only with the standard hood accent stripe removed; and the painted racing stripe can’t be selected either.
Available for order now, the first deliveries with this option are expected to arrive in June 2024– coupe models, anyway. Convertibles will have to wait until later this year.
