Ford’s goal of making the ultimate street-legal Mustang, aiming to take on the likes of high-end sports cars and targeting a sub-7-minute lap time on the Nürburgring, is hardly a secret. While we’ve had indications as to how much grunt the 2025 Mustang GTD’s supercharged V8 would bellow out, we now know it to be a confirmed 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

That’s enough performance for a 202 mph top speed, according to Ford, making the GTD the fastest street-legal Mustang yet. All that energy is produced by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, revving out to 7,650 rpm and creating what’s sure to be a high level of decibels, to be audibly atomized by a titanium exhaust system. Other engine upgrades over the previous 5.2-liter unit found in the GT500 include revised intake and exhaust and a smaller supercharger pulley.

“We’ve combined the work of talented engineers and designers, as well as an extremely capable driver, with Mustang GTD technology, power and aerodynamics,” said Mustang GTD chief program engineer Greg Goodall. “We can’t wait to deliver on our sub-7-minute promise to GTD customers.”

You can read more about what makes the GTD such an insane Mustang, but the Drag Reduction System, adjusting the rear wing to provide optimal downforce, is part of it, as are the transaxle-mounted transmission and inboard, semi-active rear suspension. Earlier this year we also caught a glimpse of the interior, showing off its Recaro buckets and the dismissal of the rear seats in favor of weight savings and a window providing a view of the aforementioned suspension.

We look forward to seeing what this street-legal super pony can do when it arrives next year.
